Our share is a real feast, with many options for participating!
Shareholders who live near the farm in Winchester NH can pick up right at the farm. The CSA "shop" is open from the tail end of May through almost Thanksgiving, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-7 pm, and Saturdays from 9 am-1 pm. This share is "Mix and Match" style, meaning shareholders choose 8-9 items each week from the 5-20 crops available. Choose your share day each week, choose your crops - great flexibility and value!
Shareholders who live just a little further afield can pick up a pre-boxed share in Keene or Brattleboro, on Tuesdays. These shares fill a 3/4 bushel box, and generally contain 9-11 crops, with a carefully planned mix chosen by the farmers all season. And Keene/Brattleboro shareholders can easily choose to pick up their share at the farm in any given week - great flexibility and great fun!
All shareholders can enjoy the Pick Your Own Garden at the farm. The Garden is our priority for 2017! We grow strawberries, peas, beans, cherry tomatoes, flowers, herbs, hot peppers and more. The PYO Garden is part of all shares, and is included in the share price. The Garden is open during CSA shop hours.
Every Monday during harvest season, we email a weekly newsletter to shareholders, listing and describing what is in the share. We include farm news, recipes, and ideas for using the less common veggies in the share.
The entire Picadilly share is grown on our family farm, and is certified organic. The harvest changes as the season progresses, from tender spring greens, sweet strawberries and crisp carrots; to mouth-watering summer melons and tomatoes; to crisp autumn broccoli and sweet roots and squash. We take special attention in our planning to grow an abundance of the “basics” all season long, with a well-varied smattering of less common crops. Though the New England harvest season typically rises to a brilliant crescendo in the late summer and fall, we plant our fields with a view toward a steady season-long harvest, and a consistent share size, all season long. In the winter, we take the opportunity to reflect on the year’s lessons, including feedback from shareholder surveys, so as to tweak our growing plans for the coming season.
All of this adds up to a pretty lovely share of the harvest, and we hope you’ll join us! Shareholders support every aspect of operating our farm – from paying a living wage, to caring for the soil with the long view in mind, to growing our food with organic and other best practices. Thank you!
Thanksgiving and December shares are still available! 2018 shares will be available January 1st.
