"Late Fall"
Community Supported Agriculture Shares!
Local Organic Veggies in November and December
Extend your season of local eating!
Join in on shares of our abundant harvest for November and December, 2010.
Pick up at the farm, in Keene or in Greenfield MA.
We produce nearly 30 different vegetables for harvest and storage through December. All of our crops are field grown, as we don't (yet) have greenhouses on the farm for growing winter greens. We harvest each crop as it is ready, for distribution and for storage in appropriate conditions.
The Late Fall Share is a mix of crops, pre-boxed for shareholders every other week in November and December. Each share fills a 1 1/9 bushel box, for a total of four boxes, one every other Thursday in November and December (Nov 4 and 18, Dec 2 and 16). We distribute the shares at the farm, as well as at Bart's Café in Greenfield MA, and The Works Café in Keene. We email a newsletter from the farm with each share, including information about the vegetables and our favorite recipes for serving them up. The cost of the share is $140.
We plan for a share that includes a plenty of the "basics", as well as the less common veggies. The crops we are growing for the extended season share this year include: carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets, winter squash, parsnips, celeriac, turnips, rutabaga, onions, shallots, garlic, leeks, storage radishes, daikon, and cabbage. New crops at Picadilly this season include storage kohlrabi and popcorn. We also grow plenty of "green" crops, which are available for as long as the hard freeze and snow holds off, including: spinach, lettuce, kales, collards, Napa cabbage, radicchio, bok choy, salad turnips, red radishes, arugula, parsley and other herbs. In our experience, we can reliably offer many of these "green" veggies throughout November, and sometimes some of them in December. The precise mix of veggies that fills each box depends, of course, on the weather conditions, both throughout the growing season and in the fall.
We have a limited number of Late Fall Shares.
The deadline for joining the Late Fall CSA is October 15, 2010, or until the shares are sold out.
